Tips of the Trade

Do you have programs that you use all the time, that you wished that you didn't have to minimumize all the windows, just so you can get to your desktop,to find your icon of whatever program you are needing?
Or, what about having to click on 'start', 'programs', then search for the program....you get the picture....

Now there is a simple way....thanks the my XP buddies, I now have a few short cuts that have really helped me in my daily routine.

I use Microsoft Word as my text editor...I use Internet Explorer to surf the internet, I use WSFTP to upload files to the internet...I don't want all these windows open all the time...but with three keys, I can open any of them in a few seconds...

Here is what you do...try it, I think you will like it...

To open Microsoft Word or any program that you use all the time, "Right mouse" click on the link that normally use to open the program. Click on "properties"..notice the 'shortcut key' this has the word "none" in it....place your curser at the end of 'none' and put the letter 'm'
Notice now there is a 'control'+'alt'+'m' as the shortcut. Click "OK'
Now while holding down the control & alt key, tap the "m" on the keyboard....BINGO, Microsoft Word will open.

You can do this with Win95,98,XP

If you forget what letter you assigned to the program, all you have to do is "right click" on the link to the program then click on properties and you will see the "Ctrl,ALT conbination.

Any problems with this, call me, Rusty
